On the cement front, statistics show that Nigeria has the largest demand for cement in sub-Saharan Africa with about 95 per cent local content input. By 2015, local consumption rose to 22 million tons from a mere 8.4 million tons a decade ago, and with Dangote Cement’s latest factory at Ukpella Edo State coming on-stream in 2019, output is definitely going to shot up by an estimated 5 million tons p.a. putting Dangote ahead of Lafarge and BUA.
Nigeria ranks tops amongst all Sub-Saharan Africa countries in terms of paved road network. The country is estimated to have about 200,000 km of road network connecting villages to cities.
